January 6, 2012 – Guest: Ofelia Hidalgo from ANAMARC COLLEGE

I don’t know about you but my New Year in no way, started out how I planned but the good thing is…life goes on and every day is a day for change especially when it’s positive.
Military Spouse Political Awareness Committee: Though many of my fellow military spouses do not share my love for politics, it is important that we become active in the political process even if it is only to vote. So many issues that we face are a result of bad decisions by politicians. Is that partly our fault? I’d say so, especially when we do not exercise our right to vote and research more about those we help to place into office. Now some may say that it is impossible that one vote counts, but it actually does. So, consider joining us for a candid conversation about politics and the non-partisan, I repeat, non-partisan MSPAC which stands for the Military Spouse Political Awareness Committee. This is an awareness not Action committee. We will not be raising funds for any candidate; the purpose is to facilitate the need to inform and educate those within our military community about the importance of being involved socially and politically within our community. From voting in school board trustees to congressman, we should all care about who represents us and how. For more information visit www.milspousepac.com.

My thought for the week:
On Thursday, January 5th, there was a service announcement made about a bomb threat at the Soldier and Family Care Center. The reason I am bringing this up is because some comments were made regarding Fort Bliss and its open post policy. Many do not believe that Fort Bliss should be an open post and therefore attribute every negative thing that may happen to that fact. I truly don’t believe our installation leaders would have an open post policy if they felt we were in imminent danger. Coming up, we will host a community forum in reference to this and will be looking for responses from both sides. If you feel strongly about this please email info@goodmorningfortbliss.com .
Personally I enjoy the fact that my civilian friends and family members can visit me and common sense states: What will happen will happen.
I look forward to connecting with you next week.
